Corona Solar Generator Request for Interconnection Process:

1. Apart from any other City processes entered into, the Corona Utilities Department must receive a completed application along with the accompanying list of items below.
2. Approval of the application submittal must be obtained before the agreement can be drafted and submitted for approval/execution.
3. Once executed, we will schedule the installation of the new bi-directional meter.
4. Once the new meter is installed and has been tested, we will provide the signed Permission to Operate (PTO).
5. At that time, the system can start up.

4. Electric Single Line Diagram
5. Electric Load Schedule

Including the 12-month kWh usage to the solar facility’s Estimated Monthly Energy kWh Production.  If the history is not available, then a licensed engineer’s load schedule must be submitted. (Reference Rules and Regs Rule 21 - Generating Facility Interconnection, Special Conditions #8) To be eligible for service under this Schedule, the customer’s generating facilities must be sized to offset part or all of the customer’s own electrical requirements and cannot be oversized. This means that the estimated output of the generating facility, using the CEC-AC nameplate rating for inverter-based generating facilities must not exceed the customer’s previous annual usage in kWh. In the event that there is less than 12 months of previous recorded usage data, the standard of 2 watts per square foot of the premises will apply.

NOTE: (ref. the NEM or ERG Agreement – Section 2.9).  This kWh value is important in order to determine the maximum allowable production

6. Site Plan
7. Solar Generating System Electric Specifications
8. Generating System Electric Utility Inspection (Commercial/Industrial Only)

The Utility Inspection ensures that the solar installation was built in accordance with the specifications as submitted in their application and approved by CUD.  This certification includes verification of equipment, and also of the operational values (voltage, shutdown and KW power production capability) of the solar facility.  This requires temporary operational parallel of the system to CUD’s grid. If the solar facility does not perform as designed, the system may have to be modified accordingly.

This inspection is done when the city has completed inspection and has approved the construction of the solar facility.

Upon acceptance, the Work Order is issued for the meter order and change out.  Once the new Meter is installed and the Permission-To-Operate is issued, the system would then be allowed to be placed into service.

Solar Rate Schedule

1. The Net Energy Metering (NEM) Rate Schedule is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the total rated generating capacity used by Eligible Customer-Generators exceeds 5 percent of Corona Utilities Department’s aggregate customer peak demand.
2. As of March 2024, total rated generating capacity, including pending applications, has reached 5 percent of aggregate customer peak demand.
3. New applications will fall under the Eligible Renewable Generation (ERG) rate schedule which was approved by City Council on June 5, 2024.
4. Customers assigned to the ERG rate schedule will be placed on a waiting list for the NEM rate schedule in the order that they were received. Corona Utilities Department will conduct an annual review of solar customers. If additional capacity opens in the NEM schedule, ERG customers will convert to the NEM schedule based on their original PTO approval date.
