Turf Removal Projects Underway in Corona

Post Date:07/11/2019 3:40 PM

The City of Corona has several landscape projects underway along Oakridge and Canyon Crest, Ontario and Oak, Montoya, and Main and Magnolia. Another project along Hidden Valley Parkway will also begin in just a couple of weeks. These projects will reduce water use and maintenance costs in order to increase sustainability. Progress may appear to be slow, but a methodical process and proper measures are being taken in order to ensure a successful long-term project. These landscape projects will generally take 60-90 days to complete and are expected to be compete by the end of summer.

Here’s what you can typically expect during each project:

Week 1:  Eliminate irrigation and kill grass.
Weeks 2 and 3:  Flag existing irrigation and remove the turf.
Weeks 4 and 5:  Put down pre-emergent. Water for two weeks to ensure grass does not grow back. Repeat process as necessary to ensure no re-growth.
Weeks 6 to 8:  Install new drip irrigation.
Weeks 9 to 11:  Amend soil, install plants and mulch.
Week 12:  Final site clean-up and begin maintenance.

The City of Corona thanks you for your patience during the process.
