Remembrance Field Dedication

The Remembrance Field Dedication

The Corona community will gather on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Eagle Glen Park to dedicate Remembrance Field in honor of the victims of last year’s Las Vegas shooting.

On the evening of October 1, 2017, tens of thousands of concert goers gathered for the final night of the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas.  The music was interrupted when gunshots rang out. Chaos ensued. Dozens of people perished, numerous others were injured, crowds fled in panic, and a number of people rushed to help those in need. When the shooting stopped, at what was the worst mass shooting in our country’s history, the devastation was unimaginable. There were many deceased and injured. In the coming days and weeks, the nation learned that 58 men and women lost their lives and more than 800 were injured. Among those killed were several who have called Corona home.

We will remember them, and we invite the community to join us at the Remembrance Field Dedication as we honor all of those who died. The ceremony will be a time to reflect on the tragedy of so many lives lost and many others forever changed, to commemorate the impact they had on our community, and to comfort one another in our collective grief.

Donors are generously paying for creation and installation of a plaque that will recognize all 58 victims and will specifically name those from Corona. KFROG RadioBSN Sports, and Rhythm Tech Productions are also partnering in this community effort. Others interested in donating toward the cost of the plaque or ceremony, are encouraged to call the Library and Recreation Services Department at 951-736-2241.

Please join us Sunday, September 30, to dedicate Remembrance Field at Eagle Glen Park. The Corona community will always remember.
