Message from the Chief of Police
The mission of the Corona Police Department is to ensure the safety and security of our community. We are a family of over 250 officers and professional staff that work tirelessly towards this mission every day. We accomplish this by investing in our people and building strong community partnerships; cherishing community engagement and building relationships at countless community events and outreach opportunities. Our department family stays committed to you, our residents, by maintaining trust through transparency and showcasing our commitment to excellence.
The Corona Police Department is comprised of three divisions: Field Services, Investigative Services, and Support Services.
• The majority of the police department’s staffing is dedicated to patrol operations. Many of our special assignment teams, such as the Homeless Outreach and Psychological Evaluation Team (HOPE), Canine, FLEX, Special Response Team, and Mobile Field Force work within the Field Services Division.
• Support Services is the next largest division, which includes the smiling faces of the Records Bureau, calming voices of Dispatch, and the caring nature of Animal Services and Enforcement.
• The third division, Investigative Services, consists of the Detective Bureau, Traffic Bureau, School Resource Officers and the Youth Services Team.
Each of the members in these divisions proudly serve our city and strive to perform their best each day, treating every citizen equally with respect, empathy and dignity. I encourage you to take a moment to learn more about our engaging community programs, crime mapping, commander responsibilities, and the organizational goals established in the strategic plan.
We thank you for putting your trust in us to protect your families, property, and businesses and look forward to our next positive interaction.
– Robert Newman, Chief of Police
