NOVEMBER 5, 2024 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The next General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 for the election of a Council Member in District 2, District 3, and an at-large City Treasurer. Each one will serve a full term of four years.
To be eligible to run for City Council, candidates must reside within their respective district in the City of Corona.

The City of Corona is a general law city governed by a five-member City Council. Each of the five Council Members are directly elected by the registered voters of their district and the City Treasurer is elected at large.

A municipal election is held on the first Tuesday in November of even-numbered years. Each December, the Council meets and chooses one of its members as Mayor and one as Vice Mayor. The Mayor is the presiding officer of the Council.
The City Clerk serves as the election officer and is responsible for issuance and acceptance of nomination papers, city measures and the publication of necessary legal notices. In addition, all campaign and conflict of interest filings required by the Fair Political Practices Commission are centralized in the City Clerk's Office. How do I become a Candidate for the Corona City Council?
Candidate Eligibility. To qualify as a candidate for member of the City Council, you must reside and be registered to vote within the jurisdiction at the time nomination papers are issued. More specifically, you must be:
- Citizen of the United States
- Registered voter and resident of the City of Corona
- Residing in the district in which they are running
- 18 years of age or older
Pre-Nomination Period Activities. Prior to soliciting or receiving any contributions related to candidacy, you must file a Statement of Intention with the Office of the City Clerk. There are additional filing requirements dependent on the amount of contributions anticipated to be received.
