Congregation Beth Shalom is hosting a special presentation to commemorate Kristallnacht with special guest Clifford Lester on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Corona Historic Civic Center Theater, 815 W. Sixth St.

Clifford Lester is a retired professor of photography at Cypress College and the son of Holocaust survivors. Lester’s mother, Ursula Lowenbach Foster, is a Holocaust survivor whose brother, Ernest, was killed at Auschwitz. Lester will be presenting photographs of survivors and their stories. His goal is to “capture the faith and courage of those who survived, and to honor the memory of those loved ones lost, so the memory and lessons of the Holocaust will never be forgotten.” Some of his subjects will attend to tell their stories.

Last year, the program was held at the Corona Public Library. The venue has changed to the Corona Historic Civic Center Theatre due to the growth and popularity of the event.

About Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of the Broken Glass, refers to a devastating wave of violent anti-Jewish activities. Nazis in Germany torched synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes, schools and businesses, and killed close to 100 Jews. In the aftermath of Kristallnacht, some 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and sent to Nazi concentration camps.
