Norco College Earns State Grant to Help Expand Veterans Resource Center
Norco College was selected to receive a $100,000 state grant to help expand the Veterans Resource Center and student programs – one of 59 colleges to receive funding.
“This grant will help provide additional opportunities for our student veterans who have selflessly given up their freedom to protect ours,” said Norco College President Bryan Reece, Ph.D.
The grant is part of an $8.5 million California Community Colleges program to assist California’s veterans and active-duty personnel with resources and academic support to ease their transition from a military environment to an academic setting. Students who use the College Veterans Resource Center credit staff for facilitating their academic success. Veterans often mention that the camaraderie that takes place in the VRC is motivating - a safe space where their peers understand them, and in turn, makes them better students. Norco College was voted Military friendly school and best for vets four out of five years. In 2017, the VRC was allocated $2 million dollars through the state budget to expand the existing Veterans Resource Center.
