Free Vietnam Author Event at the Corona Public Library

Join the Friends of the Corona Public Library for a special author panel event on the Vietnam War Experience. The event will take place Saturday, October 9, at the Corona Public Library, beginning at 1 p.m. in support of "The Wall That Heals" coming to Corona October 7-10. Author books will be for sale during the event, and a book signing will follow.

MEET THE AUTHORS

Bill Taylor's thirteen-month tour started at the height of the Vietnam War. This young man takes you on a journey through jungles, mountains, and the DMZ giving the reader a new perception of the experience most never realized before. His passion and interaction throughout his tour will touch and, at times, tear at your heart. Every platoon lieutenant, sergeant, and squad leader he had was either wounded, killed, or relieved of command. Bill's book "On Full Automatic-Surviving 13 months in Vietnam" is about the experience of what it took to survive the Vietnam War.

Tatjana Soli "Set amid the twin infernos of Cambodia and Vietnam in the early 1970s, "The Lotus Eaters" draws the reader into a haunting world of war, betrayal, courage, obsession, and love. Tatjana Soli's spare, lucid prose infuses this novel with dramatic clarity that makes us witness the collapse of two civilizations. More than that, "The Lotus Eaters" helps us to see and hear and feel the terrible human costs of that conflagration."-Tim O'Brien, National Book Award-Winning Author of "The Things They Carried."

Rounding out our panel is Mabel Ngo, whose book "Escape From Vietnam-Van's Story" is about her father-in-law Van and his escape from Vietnam with his family during the aftermath of the Vietnam War. She has another great story to share in that she was an adult literacy student at the Monrovia Public Library. And now she is an author!

Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. The library is located at 650 S. Main Street in Corona.
