An adopted tree or memorial bench is a great way to honor a loved one or show your organization’s commitment to civic pride.

Adopt-a-Tree

Tree:  Existing trees already planted in City Park for the term  of 20 years.

Plaque (Optional): Maximum size to be 4" x 8" made of bronze-like materials set in 6" x 10" concrete base, set flush with grade.  Includes name of honoree and specified single date.

Location of Plaque:  The Department will locate plaque as not to cause a maintenance problem and to best identify the tree.  The Department will attempt to locate plaque in a place which will not encourage vandalism or theft.

Park Bench Donation

Park Bench: Concrete or Metal options based upon standard issue City equipment guidelines.

Plaque (Optional):  Maximum size to be 4" x 8" made of bronze-like materials inset to Park Bench.  Includes name of honoree and specified single date.

Location of Park Bench:  the Department will attempt to place bench in a park where there is a need for a bench.  The Department will work with donor (s) to place bench as close to desired location as possible.

Additional Details:

  • Costs:  Reflect the market rate of items and labor at the time of Application.

  • Term of Donation:  Adoption of tree and placed benches shall be honored for a minimum of twenty (20) years.

  • Location:  The City will assist the donor with tree selection of an appropriate tree specimen or site for the bench installation. 

  • Maintenance and Existence:  The City will perform normal maintenance on the donated item but does not guarantee its condition or existence in perpetuity. This program is intended to be a donation to the City. 

  • Donor (s) Responsibilities:  If repair or replacement of the donated adopted tree/bench and plaque become necessary, the donor shall be responsible for the purchase of the replacement through the APPLICATION process.  Otherwise, the item (s) will be removed and not replaced.

  • Removal and Replacement:  The City retains the right to remove tree or bench at any time for any purpose.  The City will make every effort to relocate any benches or plaques in good condition to a similar location.

  • Application Procedures:

    Application: Donors may apply for the adoption of a tree or placement of a bench through this page. Additionally, phone and in-person requests may be submitted through the Community Services Department. Payment is required at the time of application. Receipt will indicate any terms or conditions at time of purchase. Donor is encouraged to retain a copy for their records in case the terms or conditions of the Parks Memorial Program change.

    If purchasing a plaque, please indicate a SINGLE date you would like to include (Ex. July 4, 2024). Leave this section blank if no date is to be indicated.

    Please tell us the exact location you are requesting. Please be as specific as possible and use landmarks if possible. (Ex. Oak Tree on the west side of Santana Park adjacent to playground).

    Review: City staff will review all applications as they are received during City Hall business Hours, Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm. 

    Installation:
    Plaque and bench placements will occur twice annually as products come in based upon grouped application orders. Placement typically occurs by January and July, respective to application confirmation.
