The City of Corona is excited to keep you in the loop about the ongoing Annual Citywide Street Pavement Rehabilitation Project. You may have noticed the construction work that began late January this year. We're working hard to ensure smoother and safer roads for everyone in our community. Here's what you need to know about this project:
What's Happening?
Construction is currently underway on nearly 100 lane-miles of roads across the city. Our goal is to complete repairs and improvements by later this summer. Work typically occurs between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. However, there may be times when we need to extend these hours to accommodate high traffic or school locations.
The construction for Phase 1 of the project is slated for completion by July 2024. Phase II is set to commence in the Fall of 2024 and wrap up by the Spring of 2025.

What Does the Work Include?
The construction activities involve various tasks such as grinding streets, repairing curbs, sidewalks, and ramps, sealing cracks, applying slurry, and paving asphalt. You might notice some dust during grinding, but this is minimized by sweeping the streets regularly. If a street needs both asphalt and slurry sealing, the slurry will be applied later to ensure a smooth surface. Striping, if required, will be done a few weeks after the completion of other tasks.
Different crews and equipment are used for different parts of the project to ensure efficiency and quality.
Thank You for Your Patience
We understand that street work can be inconvenient, but your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we strive to improve our infrastructure. We aim to minimize disruptions as much as possible.
Please note that there might be delays between project phases due to factors beyond our control. For example, slurry sealing can only be done in warm weather. Rain and wind can also cause schedule changes. Rest assured, our Public Works team is diligently managing these challenges and will keep you informed.
