The mission of the Planning & Development Department is to promote quality development, sustain the quality of existing neighborhoods, accommodate affordable housing, and ensure that new development and miscellaneous improvements to properties are constructed in accordance with the highest standards of safety.

The  Code Compliance Volunteer Program allows residents to work together with City staff to help improve and preserve both residential and commercial neighborhoods; and thus, the quality of life for all in the community. Help from volunteers is instrumental as it allows staff additional time to better address the needs of residents and citizens, and increase work productivity.

We need help from good citizens like you who want to give back to their community!

Code Compliance welcomes volunteers!

Sign Pullers

Acting as additional “eyes and ears” in the City, Sign Pullers help keep public parkways along streets clutter free from miscellaneous signage not removed after the weekend. Each year, volunteers help remove over 10,000 illegal signs! Help us continue to keep our beautiful parkways clean and signage free –  we’ll even provide a vehicle and training.

General Office

General office volunteers are needed to provide support to the Planning & Development office staff. This may include assisting residents, or visitors who may contact the department either in person or on the telephone. The tasks are typically general office, clerical, and receptionist duties.
