Adoption Support & Socialization Volunteer

Description: Adoption Support & Socialization Volunteers work closely with the animals at the shelter. They exercise and interact with the animals keeping them happy, healthy and adoptable. They also provide customer assistance in the kennels by answering questions from visitors and facilitating visitations. Adoption Support & Socialization Volunteers may also groom animals. This duty requires good animal handling and customer service skills.

Duties: Visit with animals, assist the public with adoption questions, exercise the animals, and grooming needs of the animals.

Time Commitment: 12 hours per month minimum, with flexible scheduling available Monday through Saturday during the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Training: Volunteers will be trained in recognizing canine and feline body language, how to safely handle animals, and how to recognize common animal diseases.

Goals: To educate customers, help them to select animals for adoption, and to find homes for impounded animals.
Expectations: Be safe, handle all animals carefully, and be professional and friendly.
