The Children's Room is here to provide access to information, and to library materials and services for children from infancy through sixth grade and for parents, teachers, caregivers, and other adults who work with children.

Reading Programs

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten: Newborns, infants, and toddlers earn a prize and a sticker for every 50 books they read with their caretakers, up to 1,000 books! Does it sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Registration
Then head to the library during regular hours to pick up your child’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Journal at the Children’s Information Desk and start reading. Record the books you read together in the journal and bring it in to the library to collect a prize after every 50 books!

Read Across America: Explore diverse books from across America by reading a book about or set in each state. Earn rewards for every 10 books you read!
For Children Ages 4 - 12. Parent/Caregiver may read with their child.
To Sign Up: Log onto your Beanstack account and join the Corona Public Library Read Across America Reading Challenge.
First Time Users: Register at coronapl.beanstack.org or download the app to register!
For prize pick-up or for more information visit the Children's Information Desk. The library has created a list of books to get you started, but you may choose any book that fits the criteria.

School Reading Level Programs
Schools in the Corona area are using the Accelerated Reading Program (AR) or Lexile for determining a student’s reading level.

At the Corona Public Library, books can be searched in our catalog by Accelerated Reading level and/or point value of the book. To search for a book in your AR level: Go to the Library catalog and click “Advanced Search.”From the drop-down menu, select “Accelerated Reading Level." Type your reading level in the search bar and click “Search.” You will now see a list of titles that are in your AR level.For complete instructions click here.
