     Description

    English as a Second Language

    English as a Second Language (ESL) course provides students with life, literacy, and language skills. ESL students engage in civic, integrated training, and workforce preparation activities alongside reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. ESL classes are regularly offered in the morning and afternoon during weekdays: Monday/Wednesday, 10:00am-1:00pm and Tuesday/Thursday, 3:30pm-6:30pm.  

    ESL Speaking Skills  Our ESL Speaking Skills class is designed for non-English speaking students to improve their English-speaking abilities and confidence in daily conversations and school and work settings. Whether they are just starting out or looking to enhance their conversation and pronunciation skills, our class provides tools and practices they need to communicate confidently in English. This class is held every Friday, 10:00am-1:00pm.   

    Basic Computer Skills & Online Literacy

    The computer basics courses introduce fundamental computer and online knowledge and skills. Learn about email basics, Google tools, online privacy, and more. The classes will help students gain both skills and confidence in using computers and other technological skills for their daily living and social life. The computer classes are offered in the morning and evening during the weekdays: Computer Basic Skills, Wednesday, 5:30pm-7:30pm and Computer Basic Skills, Thursday, 10:00am-1:00pm. 

    Citizenship Preparation

    Students will learn how to fill out all required immigration forms including N400 Form, practice reading and writing for literacy tests, learn the United States (U.S.) history, government, rights and responsibilities of being a U.S. citizen, and prepare and practice for oral interviews to answer 100 USCIS questions. Finally, you will be introduced to the naturalization ceremony and the oath of allegiance. The class is offered every Monday, 3:00pm-6:00pm.

    Adults of 18 years and older are eligible for the classes. All the adult classes at Corona Public Library are offered to the general public for free, including textbooks, workbooks, and school supplies. Under our partnership with CNUSD Adult Education, students are required to submit sign-up forms and fill out registration forms. To sign up for classes follow this link (English/Spanish).

    DEVICE LENDING

    Instructors, volunteer tutors and students in Corona Adult Literacy Services (CALS) program may borrow a tablet with pre-paid internet to access classes in a virtual setting. To be eligible, you need to have Corona Public Library’s cards in good standing and fill out tablet borrower forms.
